Jim Starlin has made his legendary mark as both a writer and an artist. But more than any other term, “creator” describes Jim, who has sired some of the most memorable characters in the history of comics. The Starlin Creations Art Print Set is a collection of eight images highlighting Jim’s most beloved creations.

Of course we have a new Dreadstar image, as well as three images featuring the Mad Titan himself, Thanos. Other prints feature Starlin creations Drax and Gamora of the Guardians of the Galaxy, villainous DC powerhouse Mongul, and creator-owned characters like ’Breed, Kid Kosmos and the Cosmic Guard, Wyrd, and even Darklon the Mystic. Each print measures 7 inches by 9.5 inches.

The Starlin Creations Art Print Set can be included in your pledge as an add-on, or at the $145 pledge level, which includes both print and digital copies of Dreadstar Omnibus Volume 1. If you wish to add the Art Print Set, simply increase your pledge by $40 without changing your original reward. Then send an email to [email protected] and we’ll make a note on your account.

Show Some Spine!

When we decided that the Dreadstar saga would need to be divided into three volumes, we wanted to make sure there was a sense of cohesion to the trilogy. Our designer and production guru Phil Smith came up with an overall design for the three spines featuring Vanth Dreadstar and his crew.

Makes quite a handsome showpiece for your shelf, huh? The three-volume set of the Dreadstar Omnibus will be available for only a few more days as our campaign winds down, so now is the time to take a plunge on a pledge!

Cover Me!

As our campaign winds down, let’s take one more look at the amazing covers we’ve gathered for our Legacy Editions, reprinting the landmark Dreadstar #1, a full 32 pages of remastered story and art by Jim Starlin. The highly-collectible editions are strictly limited, featuring brand new covers by an array of artists who just happen to be super-fans of Dreadstar and Jim Starlin

The first five Legacy Editions covers are by artists Chris Burnham, Patrick Zircher, Bart Sears, Andy Smith, and Joe Station. Each cover is limited to only 100 copies, available individually for $20, or as a set for $79.

An incredibly special Legacy Edition cover by the legendary George Perez, who recently announced his retirement from comics. The Perez variant is available individually for $25, and limited to 100 copies.

Lastly, and certainly not least, we have a black-and-white variant by Jim Starlin himself, limited to 500 copies, and proceed at only $10.

All variants are available as reward levels, or as BackerKit add-ons at the end of the campaign. Might there be more Legacy Edition variants being drawn by mystery artists right now, that will debut in future Dreadstar campaigns? Stay tuned!

Bad to the Bone
almost 5 years ago – Mon, May 13, 2019 at 11:21:24 AM

Every hero needs a great villain. Batman has the Joker. Spider-Man has the Green Goblin. And Vanth Dreadstar has Lord High Papal, a classic Jim Starlin villain if there ever was one. Leader of the Church of the Instrumentality, Lord High Papal is Dreadstar’s nemesis for much of the series.

If the Mad Titan, Thanos, is the undisputed heavyweight champ of Starlin’s villainous roster, Lord High Papal is a worthy runner-up. Smart, immensely powerful, and Thanos thick, he’s a worthy opponent for Dreadstar and company. Lord High Papal even demands a little sympathy from readers, thanks to his tragic origins. His story begins to unfold in the Dreadstar Omnibus Volume 1, and continues in the subsequent volumes.

The only way to get the remastered, grand cosmic epic of Dreadstar, with Lord High Papal’s villainy on full display, is via this Kickstarter. There’s only a few days left to pledge!

The first copies of the Dreadstar Omnibus Volume 1 have arrived at our offices from the printer, and we couldn’t be happier! You got a brief glimpse of the beautiful hardcover in our video with Jim Starlin, but we thought you might enjoy a flip-through video of Volume 1. So without further ado, here’s a better look at the definitive, remastered Dreadstar. As soon as our campaign ends, we’ll get our BackerKit survey out to you, and then we’ll be able to start fulfilling orders with Volume 1.
