Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Editor Speaks!
almost 5 years ago – Sat, May 11, 2019 at 01:05:50 AM

Much of the original Dreadstar material was edited by the late Archie Goodwin, a great friend to Jim Starlin and one of the best comics editors (and writers!) to ever work in the business. Archie shepherded Marvel’s Epic line, which was home to Dreadstar for a good chunk of its run.

Taking over the editorial reins for this Dreadstar Omnibus collection is Ron Marz, a writer and editor and FOS (Friend of Starlin) who got his start in comics thanks to Jim. Ron recently did a short interview about Dreadstar, Thanos, and other Starlin topics with the Tulsa World:

The stellar work of Jim, Ron, and the entire production team is on display in the Dreadstar Omnibus set, which can only be obtained via this Kickstarter.

Cosmic Cameo
almost 5 years ago – Sat, May 11, 2019 at 01:05:47 AM

By now, hopefully everyone has had a chance to bask in the grandeur that is Avengers: Endgame, which has of course already moved into the number two slot for all-time box office. The final battle between the Avengers and Thanos is the main attraction, obviously. But did you catch the other hugely important scene in the film?

That’s right, Thanos (and Dreadstar) creator Jim Starlin has a cameo in the blockbuster, about 30 minutes into the movie. In a scene filmed with Captain America actor Chris Evans, Jim delivers a line during a group therapy scene.

If you missed Jim the first time, go back for another look and add to the box-office billions. Who knows, maybe the next Starlin cameo will be in a Dreadstar movie or TV series. With less than a week left for our campaign, time is running out to be among the first to receive the definitive, remastered Dreadstar Omnibus volumes.

Thanos vs. Dreadstar: Tale of the Tape
almost 5 years ago – Fri, May 10, 2019 at 05:07:53 AM

Now, for something a little different. Out of all of Jim Starlin’s comic children, the Mad Titan Thanos and the Cold Man Vanth Dreadstar are at the top of the food chain. This, of course, leads us to wonder… what if they fought?

With such comparable power sets and cosmic abilities, this would truly be a battle for the ages. With their signature weapons and faithful companions, how would this fight go down? Would Dreadstar need the full support of the Avengers to take down Thanos? Or could Vanth topple the Titan solo?

We’ll leave you to discuss the outcome in the comments section. But remember, we want a good, clean fight, no blows below the waist!

With just one week left in the campaign, we are approaching the $100K stretch goal!

Once again, we’d like to ask all of our backers to get involved in sharing the campaign with their friends, family, and followers. With all of you behind us, we know we can smash through this last stretch goal!

We’ve also dropped some images below that you can share should you feel so inclined. We appreciate all of your help, and your support. Thank you for joining us on such a wonderful campaign.

Jim Starlin: On Remastering

What really makes Jim Starlin’s Dreadstar Omnibus Collection the definitive Dreadstar edition is the attention to remastering the original pages and additional content. Here to shed some insight on the remastering process, and to give you a glimpse of the Dreadstar Omnibus Volume 1 pages, is Jim Starlin himself.
