The Joe Staton Variant
almost 5 years ago – Mon, Apr 29, 2019 at 01:07:46 PM

So far, six world renowned artists have contributed their talents to the Dreadstar #1 Legacy Edition variants. Let’s take a look at the work of Joe Staton.

Inkpot, Harvey, and Eisner Awards recipient and writer/illustrator Joe Staton, known for his work on the Green Lantern and Guy Gardener series, as well as for his creation of THE OMEGA MEN, has illustrated this beautiful cover featuring Oedi, whose story is heavily featured within the pages of Dreadstar #1.

Joe Statons variant can be claimed with a pledge of $20, or added on to any original pledge by increasing your pledge by $20 and sending an email to [email protected] with your add-on request. As with most of the other Dreadstar #1 Legacy Edition variants, the Joe Staton Oedi variant can also be claimed in the variant collection reward tiers, as well as in the Whole Dreadstar Universe tier.

We’ll be back in the morning with more news from Dreadstar HQ!

We need your help to get there, and to unlock the signed bookplates at $100K! Please share this link with all of your friends on social media: http://bit.ly/DSKS2019 Ask them to pledge their support, or share. The Bart Sears Variant
about 5 years ago – Sun, Apr 28, 2019 at 01:36:50 PM

Bart Sears is a dual threat. Not only is he an acclaimed comics artist and writer, he’s also a world-renowned art educator. His column of How To Draw tutorials published in Wizard Magazine inspired an entire generation of comic book creators to pick up a pencil and get to work. We’re pretty positive that his beautiful Dreadstar #1 Legacy Edition Variant cover will continue that inspiration.

Bart’s variant features Vanth Dreadstar, accompanied by his crew of Willow, Oedi, Szygy, Skeevo, and the rest of the Dreadstar universe. This variant cover version of the classic Dreadstar #1 can be yours for a pledge of $20. You can also get the cover as an add-on by increasing any original pledge by $20, and sending an email to [email protected] with your request to add-on. It will also, of course, be in our BackerKit store after the campaign concludes (should there be any copies left), and can additionally be claimed in the Dreadstar #1 Legacy Variant Collection tiers, as well as in the Whole Dreadstar Universe tier.

Until tomorrow, cosmic comrades!

Dreadstar Omnibus Collection: The Covers
about 5 years ago – Sun, Apr 28, 2019 at 06:21:51 AM

Some time ago, Jim Starlin’s drawing hand was injured in an accident. It seemed at the time that Jim’s drawing days were over, and that the last drawing he would produce was the cover for Black Book: The Art of Jim Starlin. We all took solace in the thought that we had many more years to enjoy Jim’s writing. But after much hard work and a difficult recovery, Jim has been able to get back to the drawing board. Just take a look at the covers for The Jim Starlin Dreadstar Omnibus Collection for proof.

Each of the Dreadstar Omnibus covers, as well as the complex images that grace the sides of the slipcase, were illustrated by Jim in the last few months. These gorgeous illustrations make it pretty clear that the art of Jim Starlin is here to stay, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

To celebrate Jim’s work, we’d love for you to leave your favorite art or series by Jim in the comments below.

Batman: The Cult
about 5 years ago – Sat, Apr 27, 2019 at 12:25:03 PM

Jim Starlin has had a prolific career, to say the least. His work has crossed genres, publishers, and through some of the most recognized characters in comic books with some of the world’s best creators. His work with Bernie Wrightson on Batman: The Cult is a shining example of this.

The story follows Deacon Blackfire and his gang of acolytes, who kidnap and brainwash Batman, then Batman’s escape from the cult, including his long and difficult road to recovery.

You can read the full story, and claim your pristine collectors copies of Batman: The Cult issues #1-4, hand signed by Jim himself, for a pledge of $225. Also included, of course, are digital and physical copies of Dreadstar Omnibus Volume 1.

Supply is limited to just 10 sets, so be sure to claim yours while you still can!
